2011 AIUM Annual Convention upcoming next week in NYC

April 06, 2011
The AIUM Annual Convention
will be held at the Marriott Marquis

For healthcare professionals, most of the meetings they attend focus on a particular specialty area.

What makes the AIUM Annual Convention the ultrasound event of the year is the fact that it brings together professionals from differing specialties and disciplines, as well as provides an avenue for physicians, sonographers, scientists, and others to interact and further discuss medical ultrasound. This year's meeting will be held April 14-17 at the Marriott Marquis New York and includes programs from a variety of specialties ranging from emergency medicine to obstetrics and gynecology.

One of the staples of the AIUM Convention is the diverse collection of categorical courses. Courses are scheduled for each of the 15 communities of practice that make up the AIUM.

One of the newest convention features is the Three- and Four-Dimensional Volume Data Set Manipulation sessions. These sessions will be used to introduce laptop-based handling of 3-dimensional (3D) software and provide guided assistance to improve 3D ultrasound-based diagnostic skills. Sessions will be offered in fetal echocardiography, general abdominal, gynecology, and obstetrics.
Live, hands-on demos are
a big part of the AIUM

Always popular are the hands-on courses. These courses offer attendees the chance to practice what they have learned under the guidance of knowledgeable faculty. Areas examined include ultrasound-guided vascular access, carotid and transcranial Doppler ultrasound, renal artery Doppler ultrasound, and musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Looking for the latest advancements in the field? The exhibit hall showcases the latest ultrasound technology, including live-scanning demonstrations. Vendors from leading providers will be on hand to answer questions.

The AIUM Convention provides attendees with the opportunity to earn more than 20 AMA/PRA Category 1 credits. Those participating in the AIUM preconvention can earn an additional eight credits.
